About Ben

Ben Kahn is the owner and founder of Kahn Design & Fabrication. He got his start building things at a young age, working alongside his dad — kinetic sculptor Ned Kahn — where he learned the value of craftsmanship, precision, and creative problem-solving.

Ben went on to earn a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona, combining his hands-on skills with a strong technical foundation. Before starting his own business, he managed the fabrication and machine shop at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, overseeing design and fabrication on wide range of custom builds and repairs that kept the mountain running smoothly. Ben is an AWS certified welder, a qualified rigger and signal person, and posses an OSHA 30 certificate.

When he’s not in the shop, you’ll usually find Ben out trail running or skiing in the Eastern Sierra, drawing the same inspiration from the landscape that drives his approach to design and fabrication — simple, durable, and built to last.
